In October of 2008, after serving three years as a Naval Officer, I was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. This blog chronicles my pilgrimage through life and towards the Roman Catholic priesthood.

Imagine being a priest!
Imagine being a priest!
"You have not chosen me. I have chosen you. Go and bear fruit that will last" (Jn 15:16).
It is amazing to think about isn't it? I thought you might like this:
To live in the midst of the world without wishing its pleasures; To be a member of each family, yet belonging to none; To share all sufferings; to penetrate all secrets; to heal all wounds; To go from men to God and offer Him their prayers; To return from God to men to bring pardon and hope; To have a heart of fire for charity and a heart of bronze for chastity; To teach and to pardon; console and bless always. My God, what a life! And it is yours, O Priest of Jesus Christ! --Father Henri Lacordaire, OP, 1802-61.
Phillip, your example and devotion are astounding. I'm praying for your intentions through Gerard Majella, pray for priests who buckle under the strain and pray for me, a weak layman.
Hello! I found your blog via The Lair Of The Catholic Cavemen.
I was in the Navy too. I was a Aviation Machinist's Mate, third class. I loved my job as a helicopter mechanic on CH and MH -53E. I was stationed in Sicily and deployed often to Bahrain. Now I'm a disabled Veteran, a housewife, and the proud mom of a newborn daughter! I'm Catholic too *grin* Are you going to become a Priest? God bless!
