Written by Cardinal Merry del Val (1865-1930). He was accustomed to recite this prayer daily after the celebration of Holy Mass.
O Jesus meek and humble of heart, Hear me.
From the desire of being esteemed,
From the desire of being loved,
From the desire of being extolled,
From the desire of being honored,
From the desire of being praised,
From the desire of being preferred to others,
From the desire of being consulted,
From the desire of being approved,
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being humiliated,
From the fear of being despised,
From the fear of suffering rebukes,
From the fear of being calumniated,
From the fear of being forgotten,
From the fear of being ridiculed,
From the fear of being wronged,
From the fear of being suspected,
Deliver me, Jesus.
That others may be loved more than I,
That others may be esteemed more than I,
That in the opinion of the world, others may increase, and I may decrease,
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
That others may be praised and I unnoticed,
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
That others may become holier than I, provided that I become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it. Amen.

If you ever want to return to Rome on a visit you're always welcome to stay at my flat.
Meanwhile, I will carry your intentions to the tombs of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul.

Two excellent neurosurgeons:
Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez (NYC) and Dr. Holtzman (NYC) who operated on my mom's brain tumor. Both are close friends of my brother, Patrick. Nicholas Gonzalez is one of the top Oncologists in the country. Please, we want to help in anyway. We will offer up our Rosaries each day for you.
Also, there is an Irish priest, Fr. Casey that is up for beatification, and in need of two more miracles for his cause.
May God bless you and your family,
Mary and Sean Mateer
Phil,
Here is the site for Fr. Casey's beatification. Maybe he needs to work his miracle on you to be canonized!

Dear Phil,
It's me, Fr. Johnson, writing from somewhere near the Persian Gulf. I left a comment on the NLM site for you, but then Fr. Cusick sent me this link to your blog. Of course, I'm praying for you at Mass and have been since I got the news about your illness on board. Fernando too sends his best! I hope to be able to see you when I get back sometime after Easter. Know that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers at the Holy Sacrifice! Your friend, Fr. Johnson

Philip,
I have recently organized a blog network that is dedicated to prayer for our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. As it happens, the network, called the Pro Papa League, has something of a maritime theme. We would be MOST HONORED if a Catholic Naval Officer joined our Armada. If you click my screen name above, it will take you to the Flagship blog. There is no obligation for you to do anything in connection with the Pro Papa League. I can simply add your blog to the "blog-ship" roll as an honorary member. If you'd like to be a more "active" member, that's entirely up to you. Let me know what you think.
In the meantime, please be assured that the Pro Papa League will be praying night and day for you.
In the hearts of Jesus and Mary,
Philip,
I have been led to you by Confiteor of the Pro Papa League Flagship, and it seems he was led to you by what Cardinal Newman used to call 'one of God's little Providences.
I will remember you in my Rosary each night and entrust you to the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I will also pray a Novena to Cardinal Newman for his intercession, starting on November 14th, that is this coming Friday.
I'm in touch with some Benedictine nuns in the States whose prayers are very powerful. I will contact Sister Dawn on your behalf.
Mane nobiscum,Domine.

I've been led here by Confiteor's post on the Pro Papa League's flagship. May the Lord be close to you during this time. You will be in my daily prayers.
May the Lord Jesus hide you in His Most Sacred Heart. Prayers for you also before the Most Blessed Sacrament. lois
Philip, You are such an inspiration to everyone with your Faith and Strength. I want you to know that the prayer requests are traveling from where we are in Siler City, NC to Illinios, New Jersey, Ohio and all over NC for you and the request is to pray and pass on to their friends relatives and other churches. Lean on your wonderful family when you get to feeling down, but it looks as though you are being strong enough for us all. (You know that you have many "Johnson" Angels in Heaven watching over you.) God Bless You and Keep You. I Love You. Your First Cousin, Cindy
