In October of 2008, after serving three years as a Naval Officer, I was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. This blog chronicles my pilgrimage through life and towards the Roman Catholic priesthood.

Off to France!
As I sit in the airport awaiting my flight (and enjoying the customary pre-pilgrimage Stella Artois), I assure everyone of my prayers!
My first stop will be in Nevers, France, where I will stay at St. Bernadette's convent for two days before continuing on to Lourdes.
Praying for you Phil. We just watched the movie Bernadette on Saturday. It is a great reminder that at times we will not find happiness or comfort in this world, but only in the next. You continue to be an encouragement to all of us. We check in at your blog and are always moved by your strong faith and courage. We miss your smiling face at St. Benedict's!
We send along our prayers and petitions for you and all those you will represent as you implore Our Blessed Mother for her intercession. You are remembered everyday at Holy Mass. God speed, Philip. Elizabeth in St. Louis
