Greetings from Eternal Rome

After a great tour of the Vatican by the infamous John Paul Sonnen of Orbis Catholicus...

He invited me to his home in the Italian resort town of Santa Marinella. His beautiful new bride cooked a wonderful dinner before we enjoyed a pipe of black cavendish by the ocean:

Love it.

NC Bishops Applaud Legislative Override

By a vote of 29 to 19 the State Senate has overridden Governor Perdue’s veto of the Woman's Right to Know Act. Combined with the State House override, the measure now becomes law. In response, the Bishops of North Carolina wrote:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

After many months of work, including your prayers, hundreds of phone calls and thousands of emails, we are pleased to share the great news that the General Assembly has successfully overridden Governor Beverly Perdue’s veto of the Woman’s Right to Know act. This legislation will now become the law in North Carolina.

We would like to thank you for all of your efforts on behalf of life and we would like to thank the legislators who originally voted in favor of this important act and those legislators who supported the override. This new law affords protection to the lives of many innocent unborn children. It also respects the dignity of women. Thank you again for your support and efforts on behalf of the unborn. May God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge
Bishop of Raleigh

Most Reverend Peter J. Jugis
Bishop of Charlotte

In addition, Bishop Burbidge commented, "I am profoundly grateful for all the priests, religious and laity in our Diocese who offered their fervent prayers and strong support on behalf of this historic legislation. I also thank all of you for your ongoing commitment to the Gospel of Life."
