Ash Wednesday
I wish all a wonderful beginning of Lent on this Ash Wednesday!
One of those tools would have been helpful on Ash Wednesday during my first year of seminary:
That is too funny. I barely got any ashes today and my Protestant friends were all wondering if I'd gone to Mass or not. Guess they remember Ash Wednesday now :)
When I was a kid in Catholic school, the priests imposed ashes in such a way that it felt like they were just sort of twisting their thumbs on our foreheads, and the ashes just looked like thumbprints. I was 25 years old before I realized they were making the sign of the cross.
